Don’t know if it solves your problem but in the EU IV map there is a paradox launcher installer file, never seen it before so I think it came with this update

Can’t start launcher, only the game itself. Is it somehow possible to enable mods ?
All you need to do to enjoy the game and mods is to into Steam and then run the file dowser.exe from the main game folder.
There needs to be a crack for the file dowser.exe.
As of now it is required the game to be launched from this file AND the player must be logged in to Steam if one wants to play with mods!

Game launches but with no launcher, therefore no mods or DLC. Need a fix. The Imperator: Rome crack by Codex has a working launcher, and as I understand it’s the same launcher as this new EU4 launcher. Please help.

its possible to select the mods you want to play with, but for that you have to own the game on Steam.
Start the game on steam once with the mods you want to play with enabled, then exit it and launch your cracked copy of the game which should now load with all DLC and the selected mods!

For those who are still wondering how to start the new Paradox Launcher, here’s what you need to do:
-Open launchersettings.json with notepad. Then, find and change “distPlatform”: “steam” to “distPlatform”: “pdx” It should now skip the Steam online verification thing and start the launcher.(Thanks, Reitar!)
For playing with mods:
-Get the mod you want through sites like Steam Workshop er.
-Open the launcher and click on MODS, or just scroll down to the mod section.
-Now you should see MOD TOOLS below the mod section. Click on that.
-Then, fill in all the details of the mod you’ve ed. It doesn’t need to be the same as the original mod.
-Once it’s done, there should now be a folder with the mod name you’ve entered and a “xxx”.mod file inside Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/mod
-Now, copy the content from the mod that you’ve ed into the mod folder created by you using MOD TOOLS, but don’t copy the descriptor.mod from the mod you’ve ed, as
there is already a same file inside Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/mod/(the mod folder you’ve created) created by MOD TOOLS
-For mods with a “xxx”.bin format, use WinRar or any archive software to extract its content. Then, follow the above steps.
-To manage more than 5 mods, click on MANAGE MODS, as the mod section only shows a maximum of 5 mods.
BONUS:
For those who wants to play with Extended Timeline enabled, you will have to replace the province files inside your game folder with the ones form ET, as the provinces are mixed up when you run the game with the original province id and ET’s province id (It worked just fine in 1.28, blame Paradox)
To do this,
-Backup your history/provinces folder inside your root EU4 game folder and put them somewhere safe.
-Open your extended timeline mod folder or archive, then go to history/provinces and copy everything inside. Then, paste them into (your root EU4 folder)/history/provinces.
-Note that you can no longer play with Vanilla EU4 with this method. To revert back to Vanilla EU4, simply remove ET’s province files from your EU4 game folder and move the original
provinces folder back.

Hello, I can’t start the game, it worked well for me on the 1.28.3 version but after upgrading to 1.29.0 it gives me an error message.
So, when I click on the eu4.exe file it says: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). …” and I looked all over the internet how to stop this 0xc000007b error and nothing seems to work. I reinstalled all of the visual c++ versions, the .NET framework and tried other methods.
Plus, I changed “steam” to “pdx” on launcher-settings.json and was able to open the launcher with the dowser.exe but still can’t play the game. When I click “PLAY” an error symbol appears and only says “Launching the game failed.”.
