The update is wrong – messes up widescreen , languages, introduces new bugs (one of which you are experiencing) and you lose all F4 mods . Stay on GOG version and enjoy, this update is good just for console players.

Yes, this includes what Bethesda calls “nextgen” update included, but on PC it actually doesn’t change anything – and you lose all great F4 mods!
Save yourself time, stay on GOG version and use Fallout 4 HD Overhaul mod from Nexusmods (note: mod is 90+ GB!) – that is proper nextgen! Then you’ll realize why Bethesda became incompetent in gaming industry.
